Christmas Connect

The word Advent comes from the Latin word adventus, which means coming. Christians celebrate the four weeks before Christmas as a time to reflect on and anticipate the “coming” of Christ at Christmas as well as the “coming” of Christ at the end of time.

BASIC GIFT will have its LAST connect of the year, so it’s the perfect time for anyone who has been wanting to come to youth nights this year, but haven’t been able to make it, to join us at this festive time of year to grow in faith together!

What to bring:
• It’s going to be an exciting night where we will ask everyone to spend less than $10 on a Kris Kringle present to exchange on the night!!
• And what better way to celebrate any festive season, then with FOOD. We ask that everyone brings a small plate to share on the night.
• Plus 1!

There will be BonBons as well so don’t miss out!

YMN November

Come join us on the 14th and the 28th of November for a special youth mass and youth night. With under a year to go until WYD, BASIC GIFT is conducting their youth nights focused on the theme of WYD, “Planted and built up in Jesus Christ, Firm in the faith”. We ask that all WYD pilgrims please attend these youth nights as we prepare and grow spiritually in the faith. Even if you’re not going to WYD, you are still welcome to come along and join in the fun, the food and faith. Bring a friend, a relative or someone you think would enjoy this. See you there!

October YMN

Due to festivities of the Fiesta, BASICGIFT will NOT being holding youth night. However there is a youth mass which we will still be celebrate. After the mass, there is an option to go to St Nicolas of Myra for an all Paramatta diocese event. Details are bellow. Please let Michael, Trina or Rachael know whether you would be interested in attending.

Our next YMN (Youth Mass and Night) will be held on the 24th of this month. It’s sure to be an awesome night! As usual, 6pm mass and 7pm youth night. See you there.

In this month’s Youth Masses and Youth Nights we hear at the story of the Prodigal son and the story of Lazurus. Not the guy the Jesus brought back to life, but the poor guy that sits on the steps of the rich man. This is the basis of Social Justice September. It’s recognising the people around us, especially those who do not have the same opportunities as we do such as the poor. And we ask you and ourselves, “What can we do about it?” This month is the opportunity to listen and share your thoughts, your experiences and your call to action. So we invite to nights full of insight, depth and fun at the same time. We hope to see you there.

To kick start our WYD journey to Madrid 2011, we’re inviting you to join us for a night of SALSA Dancing! This event doesn’t only guarantee you a good time, but also raises awareness of what WYD is the plan for BASICGIFT next year. Siviu on SOCIAL JUSTICE SUNDAY: For our last YMN for the month, we continue to focus on having less, but being more!

So, for a taste of what’s to come, be prepared to be challenged on issues of poverty and inequality! To experience how this takes place in our world! To be inspired and informed about local social justice issues and to learn how you can be apart of a generation of CHANGE!

Also, sit back and be entertained as our young ones lead the celebration of our upcoming FIESTA and perform a part of our entertainment item for you – Hopefully for you to learn as well!

If you haven’t already guessed it, Social Justice September is all about the LIGHT baby! What better way to start the month off than in complete darkness for our first Youth mass? That’s right, you read it right – This Sunday we’re turning the lights off and celebrating mass with less, if any, electricity, and focusing on LIGHTS OUTas a means of salvation and freedom, and how it affects us socially, economically and environmentally.
